Knowledge, exchange and new perspectives for patients and relatives

Cancer Information Day Munich on September 20, 2025
Cancer never just affects the individual, but also those around them. Between medical decisions, everyday burdens and emotional questions, much remains unclear for those affected and their relatives. They often feel overwhelmed by the situation and alone with their fears and worries. At this year's Cancer Information Day in Munich, patients and their relatives will receive valuable insights into modern therapies, concrete support in everyday life and the opportunity to talk directly to experts and other affected people. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. in the lecture hall area of the LMU Klinikum München, Campus Großhadern, Marchioninistrasse 15. Participation is free of charge.

The Cancer Information Day is organized by lebensmut e.V., the Bayerische Krebsgesellschaft e.V., the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich and the Bavarian Center for Cancer Research.

Opening lecture: Listen. Talk. Carry. Growing together.

A special highlight awaits visitors right at the beginning: Nataly Storz gives a very personal account of life alongside her husband, who has pancreatic cancer, in the opening lecture. Under the title "Listen. Talk. Carry. Growing together", she shares the challenges, but also the power of solidarity in dealing with a serious illness - a moving impulse that appeals to those affected and relatives alike.

Lectures and workshops - first-hand knowledge

Throughout the day, more than 30 experts will provide insights into modern treatment options for various types of cancer - from breast and prostate cancer to lung and bowel cancer and rare types of cancer. The program is complemented by practice-oriented presentations on topics such as fatigue, nutrition in cancer, social law and palliative care.

Participants can also take part in workshops on topics such as aftercare, treatment decisions, mindfulness, self-care for relatives and special issues for young people with cancer.

14 lectures will be recorded and will be available online for six weeks from September 26, 2025. There will be no live broadcast this year.

Panel discussion: Cancer Survivor - paths and perspectives

The day will conclude at 4.15 pm with the panel discussion "Cancer Survivor - Paths and Perspectives". Under the moderation of Ulrike Mäncher, patients and experts such as Angelika Amann, Christine Kruse, PD Dr. Michael Sandherr, Eva Telzerow and Engelbert Waldmann will discuss the challenges that long-term cancer survivors have to overcome and the opportunities that lie in the joint organization of care and aftercare.

Exchange and information

In addition to the lectures and workshops, numerous information stands from self-help groups, advice centres and patient organizations will provide an opportunity to clarify individual questions and network with other affected people.
