How are LMU Hospital employees doing at work?
Study to monitor mental health in the workplace
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how severely crises can affect the mental health of healthcare workers. In order to keep a better eye on these stresses in the future, the S.A.M. app is being tested as part of a study with employees of the LMU Clinic as an everyday tool for monitoring mental health in everyday working life.
At the same time, the app provides participants with feedback on the classification of their individual results and - if necessary - information on possible support services. S.A.M. is deliberately aimed at all professional groups at the LMU Clinic.
"The mental health of hospital staff is really important to the Executive Board," says Prof. Markus M. Lerch, Medical Director of the LMU Klinikum: "We want employees at the hospital to stay healthy and are delighted when they take part in the study."
Study is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research
The data is only stored pseudonymously in the study; at no time is it possible to draw conclusions about the participants. The study is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of PREPARED of the Network of University Medicine (NUM 2.0). It is being conducted by the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the LMU Medical Center in cooperation with the Mainz University Medical Center.
To participate and receive detailed information about the study, all employees of the LMU Medical Center can download the S.A.M. app and answer the questions that will be asked every two weeks for three months.
The study team (PD Dr. Kristina Adorjan & Mike Rüb) is very pleased about your participation and support. If you have any questions about the study, the study team can be contacted at the following e-mail address: psy.num@med.uni-muenchen.de
How does S.A.M. work?
Participants answer questions about their mental health every two weeks over a period of three months
- S.A.M. provides information about the results immediately afterwards and makes comparative data available, which provides information about current mental health.
- Possible support services are presented in the app.
- It is up to the participants to assess whether they would like to make use of external support based on the results.
S.A.M. was developed especially for employees of LMU Klinikum in the PREPARED joint research project as part of the National Research Network of University Medicine (NUM), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) (funding code: 01KX2021). The app is being tested as part of a study.
The test person information and declaration of consent for the study can be downloaded here: PREPARED S.A.M. Subject information and consent form.
All study data will only be stored pseudonymously; at no time will it be possible to draw conclusions about the participants. The ethics committee of the Medical Faculty of the LMU Munich (application number 23-0230) and the ethics committee of the University Medical Center Mainz (application number 2021-16090) have approved the study.
