The LMU Hospital Cup 2023 was held on the club grounds of TSV Großhadern in Heiglhofstraße. The response to the tournament was overwhelming. A total of 16 teams, mostly mixed teams, had registered. Among them: the "Tropical Heat" soccer team from the Munich Tropical Institute.
The LMU Hospital Cup is organized by the Association of Friends, Sponsors and Alumni of the hospital. The soccer tournament is about sporting competition on the one hand and a sense of community among all employees on the other. The teams fought hard for the coveted trophy - after all, the winning team will be immortalized on the engraved plate of the cup. The numerous spectators and supporters created a great atmosphere at the tournament.
In the final, Stroke City narrowly beat Rektal Madrid. The Association of Friends, Supporters and Alumni of the University Hospital was delighted with the high level of participation and the success of the LMU Hospital Cup 2023. The tournament was a complete success and will be held again next year.
Award ceremony at the 2023 summer party
Afterwards, it was off to the hospital's summer party, where this year's motto "Come together again" was taken literally: Stalls, barbecue stations, beer tables, snacks and cool drinks awaited all employees, children and relatives in the casino courtyard. Musical entertainment was provided by Roland Hefter and the Kurzweil orchestra.
"I am delighted that we can celebrate our first joint summer party since 2019. The last few years have been overshadowed by the COVID pandemic, but today we can celebrate this and celebrate togetherness," said Medical Director Prof. Markus Lerch at the opening of the summer party.
Afterwards, Sandro Wagner, former German national soccer player and current DFB U20 co-coach, presented the winners of the LMU Hospital Cup 2023 with the trophy. He congratulated all the players on the exciting and intense matches.
Behind the winner Stroke City, the team from Neurology, Rektal Madrid, the team from Medical Clinic ll, came second and Lazio Stoma, the team from the Department of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery, came third.
Around 3,000 employees of the LMU Klinikum celebrated together at the Großhadern campus until late in the evening.
