Vaccination campaign in a royal setting: Public corona vaccination offer on February 10 at the Nationaltheater in Munich
Get vaccinated where kings once listened: Next Thursday, February 10, 2022, the Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts is offering interested parties the opportunity to be vaccinated against the coronavirus in an extraordinary atmosphere without prior registration. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the National Theater on Max-Joseph-Platz in the heart of Munich. This was announced by Minister of State Bernd Sibler today, Friday, February 4, 2022, in Munich. The vaccination opportunity is made possible by the commitment of the Bavarian State Opera in conjunction with the second vaccination cooperation between Sibler's ministry and the Tropical Institute of the LMU Klinikum München.
The event in a magnificent setting is aimed at all those aged twelve and over who are willing to be vaccinated, whereby minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is neither necessary nor possible to register in advance; registration will take place on site. In addition to booster vaccinations (third vaccinations), first and second vaccinations are also available.
The vaccination booths will be set up in the Königssaal of the National Theater. And even the medically necessary rest period of 15 minutes under supervision following the vaccination can be spent in an impressive setting: Probably Munich's most majestic rest room is one of the magnificent Ionic Halls of the National Theater, which was restored to its original version built under Bavarian King Max I Joseph from 1811 to 1818 after its destruction in the Second World War from 1958 to 1963. Today, the impressive building is the main venue of the Bavarian State Opera, the Bavarian State Orchestra and the Bavarian State Ballet.
"I am delighted that we are able to offer this open program in such an easily accessible and inspiring location thanks to the excellent cooperation of everyone involved. Opera is drama - vaccination is not. Vaccinations are our most effective weapon against the pandemic. I therefore appeal to everyone who has not yet done so: Please get vaccinated and boostered! You are protecting yourself and others," said Minister Sibler and emphasized with regard to the upcoming cooperation: "This great joint campaign with vaccinations in the beautiful premises of our Nationaltheater shows once again how valuable a collaboration between art and research can be for our society. I would therefore like to thank the team at the LMU Klinikum's Tropical Institute with its director Professor Dr. Michael Hoelscher and the head of the outpatient clinic there, Dr. Camilla Rothe, for their impressive efforts, as well as the director of the Bavarian State Opera, Serge Dorny, for opening this beautiful venue to all those willing to be vaccinated."
The vaccine preparations from Moderna and BioNTech/Pfizer will be used by doctors from the Tropical Institute of the LMU Klinikum München. Interested parties should bring the necessary documents with them: These are an official identification document with photo, the vaccination certificate (if available) and for second and third vaccinations (booster) the proof document of the respective previous vaccination. Wearing an FFP2 mask is mandatory in the building.
On 13 December 2021, Sibler's ministry had already organized an open vaccination offer at the Pinakothek der Moderne as part of the Hi!A Festival for Art and Research in Bavaria together with the Tropical Institute of the LMU Hospital and the Bavarian State Painting Collections, where almost 700 people were vaccinated against the coronavirus.
