Medical training and continuing education

The Tropical Institute offers a range of professional training opportunities for doctors and healthcare staff, such as the international course "Diploma in Tropical Medicine and International Health" (DTMIH). In the area of tropical and travel medicine training and further education, the Tropical Institute organizes basic and refresher courses on travel medicine several times a year in accordance with the curriculum of the German Tropical Medicine Society (DTG). The Tropical Medicine Outpatient Clinic is also one of the few places in Germany where doctors can acquire the necessary domestic training to carry out the additional training in "Tropical Medicine". In addition to tropical medicine, there are authorizations for further training in infectiology (6 months) and internal medicine/general medicine (6 months).

Trainingseinheit "Management of Highly Contagious Diseases" als Teil des DTMIH

A 12-week further training course in tropical medicine is required by the medical associations as part of the additional further training to become a tropical medicine specialist. The Tropical Institute offers the "Diploma in Tropical Medicine and International Health" (DTMIH) course in English. The course takes place annually from October to December. The course program has been recognized by the Bavarian Medical Association as a course program for additional training in tropical medicine.
