The Medical Clinics and Polyclinics II, III, IV and V, the Children's Clinic at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital, the Department of Anaesthesiology, the Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine, the Antibiotic Stewardship Unit and the Clinical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene Unit are involved in the center. The KLIK is intended to bundle existing and newly established structures in infectiology patient care, training, further education and training as well as research and teaching in the field of infection medicine under one roof. The existing specialist expertise will be brought together with the aim of optimizing inpatient and outpatient care in order to guarantee patients with an infectious disease the highest level of care.
"The continuous training of the medical and nursing staff involved, the integration of new therapeutic concepts and the transition of scientific results into clinical care are integral goals of the center," says Prof. Dr. Johannes Bogner, Head of the KLIK. Furthermore, the visibility of infectiology within and outside the hospital will be improved. Research and teaching in the field will be further developed and strengthened through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Infectious disease wards are now available for the inpatient care of infectious disease patients at both the Grosshadern Campus and the City Campus. Medical care is provided at both locations by specialist infectiology staff. Training to become an internist specializing in infectiology will be carried out at the new center. In addition, there are outpatient care units including special diseases such as post-Covid, infectious and travel-related diseases, immunodeficiency diseases (children / adults) and hepatitis.
