Patients with psychological stress after intensive treatment
Life-threatening illnesses are not only physically but also emotionally stressful. About 1/3 of all patients treated in intensive care still suffer from these experiences months to years later.
Often, uncontrollable memories occur, fears arise that affect the patients' lives to varying degrees. Feeling less pleasure, being more jumpy or no longer being able to sleep well are further examples of the diverse symptoms. This is referred to as post-traumatic stress.
