International Academic Teacher Training Course for Health Professions (ATTC)
Professionalisation of medical education, professional development and capacity building for health professions are key factors for a sustainable development of health care systems worldwide.
The International Academic Teacher Training Course for Health Professions (ATTC) in Munich is part of Continuous Professional Development and a mandatory faculty development program of the medical faculty of LMU Munich. It is offered by CIH and the Institute of Medical Education and is embedded in a strong network with international partner institutions.

About this course
Teachers of the Medical Faculty. The workshop is designed to bring together staff in health professions education who want to improve their skills as an educator, and health educators with responsibility for the medical curriculum.
The Institute for Medical Education (DAM) at the University Hospital of the LMU Munich organizes in cooperation with the Center for International Health (CIH) of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich the Academic Teacher Training Course for Health Professions.
In addition to faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine, international teachers and students of the tropEd Network Master's Degree Program and the PhD Program Medical Research - International Health will participate in the course.
The course is held in English. Fluency in English is absolutely necessary (level C1).
The Academic Teacher Training Course for Health Professions can only be booked as a complete course. In addition to the presence time, one Kick-Off-Meeting (Online), preparation and follow-up tasks are provided, the processing of which is a prerequisite for successful participation in the course. Contents of the course:
- Structure the teaching and learning in large and small classes
- Perform curriculum development from learning objectives to assessment methods and teaching and learning activities
- Giving and receiving feedback to peers and students in their daily practice
- Get aware of requirements for intercultural communication and collaborations
- Share professional teaching expertise across different health professions and countries
- Use online facilitation tools and techniques to handle the requirements of online teaching
The costs for employees of the University of Munich and the Medical Faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich will be covered. For external participants, a fee will be charged.
Please inform yourself in advance about the conditions of participation in the course and, if applicable, costs incurred by you.
Please note: If you cancel at short notice (less than one week before the start of the course), a cancellation fee of 290 EUR will be charged.
Participation in the entire course is certified with a certificate of attendance from the Faculty of Medicine of the LMU. The course can only be booked as a complete course (attendance including preparation and follow-up). No certificates will be issued for individual days.
With the attendance of the course, the certificate "Zertifikat Medizindidaktik der Bayerischen Universitäten - Grundstufe" (60 teaching units) is acquired. This contains all the necessary work units for the didactic qualification (at least 60 teaching units) to be proven in the application for admission as a habilitand at the Medical Faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.

The number of university lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine of the LMU is limited.

Please prepare the following files to complete the registration successfully:
- CV in English
- Support Letter, filled and signed by your supervisor to ensure you are allowed to participate at all parts of the course
- Video Self presentation: A video recording of max. 2 minutes duration containing your self-presentation and motivation to participate
until the deadline on 26th November 2023.
Please note: Mandatory for course participation is a teaching position or your own teaching unit in the summer term 2024!
