2023
ESCP Fellowship (FESCP): At this year's European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP) Symposium in Aberdeen, Scotland, the ESCP Fellowship (FESCP) was awarded to Prof. Dr. Tobias Dreischulte, Professor of Clinical Care Research at the Institute of General Practice. The ESCP Fellowship is awarded in recognition of continuous excellence in the field of clinical pharmacy and/or research. Nominees must have been a full member of ESCP for at least five years, have been in practice for at least five years and have made a significant and sustained contribution to ESCP, e.g. through speaking at conferences/symposia/meetings, serving on ESCP committees, SIGs or publications, or being elected to office.
Professor Dreischulte was a member of the ESCP General Committee between 2013 and 2019, has conducted a large number of workshops at ESCP conferences to promote young academics and has given plenary lectures and has made a significant contribution to the visibility of the organization, especially through publications on behalf of ESCP.
2022
Doctorate Prize in General Medicine from the Bavarian General Practitioners' Association FoundationThis year, the Bavarian General Practitioners' Association Foundation's doctoral prize was awarded for the first time. This is intended to help emphasize the scientific importance of general practice and make GP care even more visible in research and teaching. The silver doctoral prize, which was awarded twice and is endowed with 1,500 euros, was awarded to Flora Wendel's dissertation on the topic "Effects of participatory decision-making on the vaccination rates of adults in outpatient care".
Research prize for suicide prevention: The POKAL project "Suicide Prevention in Primary Care" was awarded 2nd place in the DESAM-ForNet prize in the "New Tools for Practice" category on March 11, 2022. The aim is to design a new, time-efficient short questionnaire - especially for primary care - that takes into account not only suicide risk factors but also the respective protective aspects that prevent those affected from attempting suicide. As part of the diagnostic process, this also provides the practitioner with direct information on initial prevention options.
2020
This year's David Sackett Prize was awarded to the Paradies study group led by Prof. Jochen Gensichen. The prize is named after the pioneer of "evidence-based medicine". According to this, patient-oriented decisions in medical treatments should be made on the basis of empirically proven effectiveness wherever possible. The German Network for Evidence-based Medicine EbM presented Gensichen with the award on February 14 at the EbM Network Annual Congress in Basel for his work on the "Treatment of Panic Disorders in General Practice" (Paradies Study, Patient Activation foR Anxiety DIsordErS). Under the motto "...living more freely in the face of anxiety", the group investigated the effects of a behavioral therapy anxiety exercise program, supplemented by case management, in the GP practice team.
2019
At this year's DEGAM Congress, the "SMOOTH study team" led by Prof. Gensichen and Dr. Konrad Schmid received the "German Research Award for General Practice - Dr. Lothar Beyer Prize" for their work on "GP care after critical illness". Originally developed on the clinical picture of sepsis, the research results enable GPs to provide case management for improved and individualized follow-up care for patients with serious illnesses.
2018
Prof. Jochen Gensichen and Dr. Konrad Schmidt were awarded the 2017 Hufeland Prize for the SMOOTH study "Safe living after sepsis". The prize, endowed with 20,000 euros, is awarded annually by a jury of German doctors on behalf of Deutsche Ärzteversicherung for pioneering achievements and outstanding research events in preventive medicine. Gensichen and Schmidt share the prize with Dr. Detlef Gysan from Cologne.
2017
The Wilfried Lorenz Healthcare Research Prize of the German Network for Healthcare Research (DNVF) e.V. was awarded for an outstanding work in the field of GP care following critical illness and intensive medical treatment. The jury selected the work, which was published in 2016 by a group of authors led by the two prizewinners Dr. Konrad Schmidt and Prof. Jochen Gensichen, due to its high relevance for patient care and its sophisticated scientific methodology.
Title of the paper:"Effect of a Primary Care Management Intervention on Mental Health-Related Quality of Life Among Survivors of Sepsis. A Randomized Clinicalt Trial" published in JAMA, 2016; 315(24): 2073-2711.
Prof. Jörg Schelling was awarded anHonorary Distinguished Fellowship. He received the honor for his activities in integrative general medicine and health promotion. The certificate was awarded by the European Society for Person-Centered Medicine (ESPCM) at its annual congress.
2016
Prof. Dr. Jochen Gensichen's study "Jena-PARADIES" (Patient Activation foR Anxiety DIsordErS) was awarded the 2nd MSD Health Prize 2016.
For their achievements in the field of travel medicine in Germany, the German Society for Travel Medicine e.V., Düsseldorf awarded Dr. rer. nat. Linda Sanftenberg and Michaela Kramer (cand. med.) the 2nd prize (shared) of the Erich Kröger and Klaus Jörg Volkmer Award 2016 for their work "Medical diagnoses of German business travelers to China - risks beyond the vaccination consultation".
2015
At the 2015 Eugen Münch Science Award ceremony, the first prize went to Prof. Dr. Jochen Gensichen for the development of a GP aftercare program for patients following severe sepsis: Safe living after sepsis - SMOOTH study (Sepsis survivors Monitoring and cOordination in OutpatienT Health care).
At the 4th National Vaccination Conference (June 18-19, 2015 in Berlin), Salavati P., Glasmacher J., Krane S., Sanftenberg L. and Schelling J. were awarded the 2015 prize of the Stiftung Präventive Pädiatrie for the abstract "Impfempfehlungen im Arztbrief".
2014
Prof. Dr. Jochen Gensichen was co-award winner of the research prize of the Society for the Promotion of Quality Assurance in Medical Laboratories (Instand e.V.) for "Work on the epidemiology, cost analysis and quality of laboratory analysis in Lymer borreliosis patients in Germany with special consideration of external quality control".
Prof. Dr. Jörg Schelling received the Hildegard Hampp Humanitas grant for his research project "The practical year in general practice - improving clinical and interpersonal skills through a consultation hour OSCE with structured feedback", which he conducted in cooperation with the Institute for Didactics and Educational Research in Medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in Munich (DAM).
