International collaboration: 2. AMEAR Conference brings together medical education experts
The 2nd CIH AMEAR Conference 2024, held at JimmaUniversity was a true success and we are satisfied and proud of what we have achieved together with our African partners by bringing together medical education experts from several African countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, Namibia, Somalia, Ghana and Germany. The hybrid Conference was organised by the international CIH AMEAR team of Prof. Matthias Siebeck, Dr. Ahmed Zeynudin and Ms. Marie-Cathérine Rausch.
Beside the presentations and discussions about the research projects of CIH alumni and FAIMER fellows the scientific speed dating exercise to find new partners for research collaborations was one innovative, engaging and exciting highlight.
The conference ended with a lively panel discussion on "Faculty development - the way forward" with a conclusion by Dr. Bekalu Ferede, in which he emphasized the importance of ownership as a pathway to sustainability. Because after all, successful "change comes from within".
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all, who contributed to this insightful Conference, especially to the Bavarian State chancellery to make the CIH AMEAR project possible and to Dr. Ahmed Zeynudin and his team at the Jimma University for the smooth and dedicated execution of this hybrid conference.
