Book presentation for better care for people with mental illnesses
Around a third of Germans suffer from a mental disorder at least once in their lives. The GP practice is usually the first point of contact for those affected - and therefore plays a major role in the recognition and treatment of mental and psychosomatic disorders.
Together with Prof. Martin Härter and Prof. Mathias Berger, Prof. Jochen Gensichen has published the book "Psychological Brief Interventions - For the General Practitioner's Practice and Psychosomatic Primary Care". It provides brief, concise and practical recommendations for use in GP and specialist practices, including illustrative videos.
Jochen Gensichen is also a board member and founder of the Foundation for General Practice and wants to pass the book on free of charge to young doctors in further training. Thanks to the generous support of the BKK Dachverband e.V., the Stiftung Allgemeinmedizin has succeeded in doing so. He presented the hot-off-the-press special edition together with the BKK Dachverband e.V.: in the context of lectures and a discussion with experts from associations, science and politics. One of the issues discussed was how quality-assured, low-threshold psychosomatic care in GP practices can be better anchored in further medical training.
