Prof. Dr. Jochen Gensichen has been admitted to the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
His appointment to the Medicine class, Global Health section, marks the first time a general practitioner has become a member of this academy, which is steeped in tradition. The German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina is the world's oldest continuously existing academy of natural sciences and medicine. It became the National Academy of Sciences in 2008 and advises politics, business and society on key issues with scientific expertise.
