Dear colleagues,
In July 2009 the first Progress in Primary Aldosteronism (PIPA) meeting was held here in Munich. Our idea was that a meeting dedicated to primary aldosteronism (PA) would facilitate collaborative research and scientific exchange in the field. Since then, six more PIPA meetings in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022 gathered scientists from around the world and led to the Progress in Primary Aldosteronism special issues in Hormone and Metabolic Research (2011, 2015, 2017, 2020) and in the European Journal of Endocrinology (2013) that covered current knowledge by PIPA participants.
Then, the pandemic hit planet earth, shattered our confidence and caused unforeseen suffering, personal losses, and changes in career plans. For 2 long years we were stuck in a ‘black whole’, starting recovery in 2022 with PIPA-7. Since then, major progress in PA research has been made, new international collaborations have emerged and key publications have addressed new genetic events, pathophysiology of aldosterone excess, and histopathological classifications. Despite progress, unresolved and controversial issues remain.
Therefore, we are delighted to announce PIPA 8 which will take place in the usual location at the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Stiftung in Munich. The faculty will be international with experts from around the world. Plenty of time will be reserved for discussion. Investigators will have the opportunity to present their most recent data either as short oral presentations or as posters. As in previous PIPA meetings, sessions will be dedicated to new collaborative projects from all fields of PA research.
We cordially invite you to attend this prime scientific event!
