Neuroendocrinology (AG Theodoropoulou)
Research topics (description of research focus and (long term) projects)
We are studying the complex tumours of the anterior pituitary gland. These benign intracranial neoplasms frequently present with complex pathology and can be accompanied by severe comorbidities and aggressive behaviour. We are working towards elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying their pathogenesis, drug response and resistance to pharmacological treatment in order to identify drugable signalling networks that will translate to improved patient management.
Projects
- Molecular pathology and treatment of Cushing’s disease (SFB-TRR 205)
- Pituitary tumorigenesis
- Molecular biomarkers
- Somatostatin receptor targeted treatments
