Web presence of the LMU Klinikum in Scrivito
The days of CMS Fiona are numbered: although the technology is very stable, it no longer meets the requirements of modern websites. We have therefore switched from our previous CMS Fiona to the new CMS Scrivito.
The technical and content-related preparations have already been completed. The relaunch of the LMU Klinikum portal page and the first pilot pages took place at the beginning of February 2020 and was synchronized directly with the launch of the umbrella brand. The close cooperation between the two strategic projects, relaunch and umbrella brand, was important for the professional and effective external image of the hospital.
Not only was the entire "look & feel" of the pages redesigned, but the user-friendliness and findability of content were also improved.
What is Scrivito?
Scrivito is a cloud-based content management solution that combines high-performance technologies with intuitive usability for editors. Scrivito is based on the Ruby-on-Rails programming language and can therefore be flexibly adapted to the respective area of application. Websites are created exclusively using individual widgets (e.g. text widgets, video widgets, image widgets), with which the individual components of the page can be created quickly and easily. The mobile-first approach (responsive design) is also taken into account when adapting existing websites to the cloud offering.
What has changed structurally in the new websites?
A distinction must be made as to whether web presences are (or must be) located below the portal construct of the LMU Klinikum or whether web presences can be independent outside the portal construct.
The portal construct of the LMU Klinikum includes the following LMU Klinikum websites
- the "portal page" (P)
- the underlying "institution sites" (E)
- further "internal appearances" (iA) (internal project websites, internal cooperation websites, internal landing pages)
The portal page lists its content in the horizontal menu navigation of the overall website and also has a vertical menu navigation for much of its content. The underlying facility pages and internal sites of the LMU Klinikum have a vertical menu navigation, which is displayed below the horizontal menu navigation of the portal. This ensures that all sites present a uniform image to the outside world and that users/visitors/patients/referrers/interested parties can quickly find their way around the LMU Klinikum's websites.
We call web presences outside the portal construct:
- "external appearances" (eA)
External websites have a horizontal menu navigation and have no fixed connection to the portal construct. They are also independent of the hospital's corporate design and do not have to follow the LMU hospital's style guide. If a "proximity" to the LMU Klinikum is to be created in the external appearances, we recommend using elements of the LMU Klinikum style guide in the external appearances.
