Who is social media marketing relevant for?
In principle, EVERY company should deal with the topic of social media, as it is becoming increasingly important for search engine optimization. Information that is distributed ("shared") or rated ("liked") as a link via Facebook or Twitter, for example, is rated by search engines as more interesting than information on comparable websites without social media activity. The social activity of a website is a relevant ranking factor in search engine optimization.

The following procedure is mandatory and the following rules must be observed:
The intention of an institution of the LMU Klinikum to set up its own presence in a social medium must be notified in text form by the institution management with a lead time of 1 month to the Office of Communications and Media.
This notification must contain the following information
- Name of the institution for which the appearance is to be made
- Specific name of the social medium in which the appearance is planned
- Designation of at least one employee of the advertising institution responsible for the appearance as the contact person.
- Notification of the link where the appearance can be found.
Existing accounts must be reported to the Communications and Media Unit within 6 weeks. Please note the instructions/user information on handling social media from the Communications and Media department (access to the intranet and therefore to the instructions/user information is only possible from the hospital network for employees).
Social media is an umbrella term for media in which internet users gather knowledge and exchange experiences, opinions or information. These media include social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Xing. Question portals/forums such as gutefrage.net, photo, music and video sharing portals such as Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube, as well as review portals such as Yelp, Ideal and Jameda.
