From June 27 to July 3, 2026 the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting took place at Lake Constance together with over 70 Nobel Laureates across disciplines and over 600 young scientists from all over the world. This year, two young scientists from KlinPharm, Dr. Marcel Trefny and Philipp Jie Müller were able to participate in this prestigious meeting. They were nominated by Prof. Stefan Endres through the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung and the Wilhelm Sander-Stiftung, respectively. 

This year's motto ‘75 Years and Beyond - Science Transcending Borders’ lived up to its promise: From Katalin Karikó talking about her journey from being born in small town in Hungary to laying the foundation for the mRNA vaccine despite being sacked numerous times in her life; to Omar Yaghi presenting his vision of addressing global water scarcity through new chemical frameworks which isolate clean water out of dry air; to John Jumper reflecting on solving the protein structure prediction problem with AlphaFold and on how we can build trust in AI. 

During the week, Marcel Trefny was also invited by the Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation to engage in a panel discussion with the topic 'How AI Transforms Scientific Discovery', together with Nobel Laureate Kurt Wüthrich. 

Beyond the lectures and panel discussions, it was the informal exchanges during breaks, lunch hours or science walks around the island that gave the participants the chance to interact with the Laureates. In fact, these moments left the deepest impression: Encountering Laureates not as distant figures but as curious, humble, and endlessly passionate scientists reminded both scientists why they chose this path in the first place. They now return energized and grateful for the opportunity, carrying with them new friendships across continents and disciplines!
